My Fundraising Plans
by Jenna DeLaurentis
Yesterday was one of the happiest days of my life so far. After years of freaking out about telling my parents I wanted to exchange, I finally told them, and they both said yes!
I went to the library last night and got about twelve books on different countries. I REALLY want to go to Greece but I don't think Rotary has it for long term. Oh well, I don't think Italy is ever going to change from my number one spot anyway.
So now my main problem is raising money. The whole Rotary program is going to be around $3500, which includes a monthly spending money, but I am going to try and raise more. How much spending money I need depends on where I go, though. If I end up in South America I probably won't spend as much as in Europe.
How am I going to save up this money? I have a few ideas. I'll make around $500 from Youtube in a year (I am partnered with Youtube), birthday money, and Christmas ($300). That alone is $1300ish. I have to raise $2700 more. I'm hoping to get a job this winter/next spring, and make about $1000 from that. I think I will have to fundraise the remaining $1700 or get donations from people.
That is basically what is going on right now; I am trying to raise the money. Maybe I shouldn't have bought that Dunkin' Donuts coffee last night?
Top five countries as of now:
1.) Italy
2.) Sweden
3.) Argentina
4.) Belgium
5.) Brazil

Suggestions for raising money:
ReplyDelete-Ask family to help (aunts, uncles, grandparents, ect)
-If there is a Lions club in your town give a speech, tell them why you want to go on exchange, ect they might give you money. They gave me $500
-Get a job
-Ask businesses for money, see if they will sponsor you
-do odd jobs in the summer (babysitting, yard work, ect)
You should totally switch Sweden out with Denmark, haha :D Anyway, I'd donate $1 (sorry, I'm trying to save what's left of my exchange money for when I go home), but you'd have to find a way for me to give it to you :p
ReplyDeleteTry selling tea with www.designatea.com! For every tea you sell you get almost $3. Or buy candy in bulk and sell it in neighborhoods/school. If you do these two things and get a job you'll probably raise enough money in a few months (:
